About Deller Conservation..............

As a Professional Associate member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works  (AIC) , principal Craig Deller must adhere to the "Code of Ethics"  &  "Guidelines for Practice"   set forth by the AIC. These guidelines call for the conservation professional to strive to attain the highest possible standards in all aspects of conservation.   Including, but not limited to; preventative conservation, examination, documentation, treatment, research and education.

Trained in the scientific approach, our staff specializes in original finish recovery,delicate cleaning of sensitive decorative surfaces and the compensation of lost elements.

We offer technical analysis, collections surveys, consultations and research.

Craig Deller is currently in his seventh year as President of the Chicago Area Conservation Group (CACG) and serves on the Board of Directors for the AIC as Director of Communications. The AIC is the national organization representing conservation professionals in both institutions and private practice.

Craig contributed to, and edited, the AIC's brochure "Caring for Furniture" which can be viewed by clicking on the link.

He is also on the faculty of the Masters in Historic Preservation Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He teaches the "Interior Surfaces Conservation Lab"

Mr. Deller received his Bachelors of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in 1977 and has studied furniture conservation at the Conservation Analytical Laboratory of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

His partner, Wendy Leeds, has been in the restoration field for 16 years before coming to Deller Conservation.

Mr. Deller has been featured in numerous newspaper and magazine articles as well as on television shows as "The Antique Roadshow" and "At The Auction with Leslie Hindman".
